Instructions for Authors

Welcome to the Journal of AI Methodologies for Science and Engineering. We publish high-quality, peer-reviewed papers that pioneer new artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-driven methodologies applied to complex problems in science and engineering.

Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting your manuscript to ensure a smooth evaluation and publication process.

1. Scope and Submission Types

We welcome original research, comprehensive reviews, and short communications that advance the state-of-the-art in AI application and theory within scientific and engineering domains.

  • Original Research Articles: Full-length reports of innovative, rigorous, and completely new methodologies or applications.

  • Review Articles: Deep, critical assessments of existing literature and trends in a specific subfield of AI for science/engineering.

  • Short Communications: Brief, urgent reports of exceptional preliminary findings or novel algorithmic breakthroughs.

2. Manuscript Structure Guidelines

Manuscripts should be compiled in a single file (preferably Microsoft Word .docx or LaTeX format). While we do not impose a strict page limit, conciseness and clarity are highly valued.

Essential Components

  1. Title Page:

    • A concise, informative title.

    • Full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses of all authors.

    • Clear indication of the corresponding author.

  2. Abstract: A single paragraph (max 250 words) outlining the problem, the proposed AI methodology, key results, and broader scientific/engineering impact. Avoid citations or non-standard abbreviations.

  3. Keywords: 4 to 6 specific keywords (e.g., Physics-Informed Neural Networks, Surrogate Modeling, Generative Design).

  4. Main Text: Typically organized into sections: Introduction, Methodology, Experiments/Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.

  5. Declarations: Funding, Conflicts of Interest, and Data Availability Statements (see Section 4).

  6. References: Follow a consistent, standard scientific citation format (e.g., IEEE or APA). Ensure DOIs are included wherever available.

3. Formatting Mathematics, Data, and Code

Given the technical nature of our journal, precision in presenting computational methods is vital.

  • Equations: Format complex mathematical expressions, variables, and formulas clearly. If using LaTeX, please use standard mathematical environments. For Word documents, use the built-in Equation Editor.

  • Code and Data Accessibility: To ensure reproducibility—a cornerstone of AI research—authors are strongly encouraged to deposit their code, trained model weights, and datasets in public repositories (e.g., GitHub, Zenodo) and link to them in the manuscript.

4. Ethical Policies and Declarations

Every submission must include the following statements prior to the reference list:

  • Funding Statement: Disclose all sources of institutional or grant funding that supported the research.

  • Conflict of Interest: Declare any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be perceived as influencing the work. If none exist, state: "The authors declare no competing interests."

  • Data Availability Statement: Provide explicit details on where the underlying data and source code can be accessed.

5. Peer Review Process

The Journal of AI Methodologies for Science and Engineering operates a double-anonymous peer-review process (neither reviewers nor authors know each other's identities).

  • Initial Screening: The Editor-in-Chief reviews all submissions for scope alignment, basic technical soundness, and plagiarism checks.

  • Expert Review: Qualifying manuscripts are sent to at least two expert referees in the relevant scientific/engineering and AI subfields.

  • Decisions: Based on reviewer feedback, the editors will issue one of the following decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.

6. Archiving and Open Access Compliance

By publishing with us, your research benefits from our robust digital preservation network.

Digital Preservation: All accepted and published articles are automatically deposited into Zenodo (operated by CERN) and integrated with OpenAIRE infrastructure, ensuring persistent DOIs, open-access compliance, and permanent global visibility.

7. How to Submit

All manuscripts must be submitted through our online Editorial Management System.

During submission, you will be required to confirm that:

  1. The manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere.

  2. All co-authors have approved the submission.

  3. Any use of generative AI tools in the writing or data generation process has been transparently disclosed in the methodology or acknowledgments section.
